Aldeas Infantiles SOS Colombia Centro de Desarollo Familiar

Aldeas Infantiles SOS Colombia
Cali, Colombia

Maestro Cares Foundation funded the construction of the Aldeas Infantiles SOS Colombia Community Center: Centro de Desarrollo Familiar. Aside from the construction of the community center, Maestro Cares Foundation also repaired the 17 roofs to all current Aldeas Infantiles SOS Colombia homes and built a kitchen to serve meals to the local community.

This community center serves children and adolescents in the community by helping them develop leadership skills as well as promoting teamwork, creativity and conflict resolution through workshops.

The center also offers participants, families and the SOS community with guidance through trainings, activities and empowerment programs.

Aldeas Infantiles SOS is the largest international organization for direct care of children, and they are present in 135 countries. They provide assistance to children without adequate parental care by giving them alternative families and a nurturing environment. They also ensure siblings of at-risk families stay together in these foster homes. The goal of the program is to strengthen families and keep them together while focusing on youth development.

About Colombia

MedellinMap_Web_07.15.2022_275
In Colombia, 45% of the population lives below the poverty line. Although the country possesses much wealth, it is shared very unequally, and conditions are aggravated by the regular armed conflicts and frequent natural disasters it faces.
