Casa Hogar Alegría Cacalomacán - Phase I & II

Fundación Casa Hogar Alegría
Toluca, Mexico

Overview: Maestro Cares Foundation and Fundación Telmex-Telcel have jointly funded both phases of this project. The initial phase involved the construction of Casa Hogar Alegría (CHA), a residential facility in Cacalomacán, Toluca, offering refuge for girls facing abuse, neglect, and abandonment. The second phase entails the expansion of the same location to accommodate a larger number of girls. The Cacalomacán site collectively will provide shelter to over 168 young girls aged 5-12. Equipped with dormitories, a well-equipped kitchen, a chapel, a basketball court, versatile multipurpose rooms, administrative spaces, recreational areas, and a computer room. The facility aims to provide a secure environment where these girls can find solace, encouragement, and educational guidance.

Fundación Casa Hogar Alegría offers a comprehensive upbringing to orphaned girls who lack parental care, have socio-economic disadvantages or any impediments that interfere with their ability to become happy and well-rounded individuals in a safe environment. Casa Hogar Alegría provides the necessary attention to help advance personal development and thus the girls can become independent, responsible, self-confident and are overall able to increase their quality of life.

About Mexico

Toluca-Mexico
Around 412,000 children in Mexico live without parental care. The main reasons leading to the loss of parental care are maternal mortality, femicide, AIDS and Mexico’s on-going drug cartel violence.
