#OurChildrenAroundTheWorld: Guatemala

In Guatemala, high rates of poverty and inequality persist across the nation. According to the World Bank, 59.3% of the Guatemalan population lives under the poverty line and 23% live in extreme poverty. Maestro Cares Foundation recognized the critical need for support, which is why we acted quickly to construct two projects in Guatemala: The Centro de Desarrollo Integral with Aldeas Infantiles SOS Guatemala in San Juan Sacatepequez, and Escuelas Palo Verde in Jalapa.

Through these two projects, we are providing #OurChildren access to high-quality education, technological resources, nutrition and support for childhood development. Our projects not only benefit our children, but their families and the overall community.

Check out this month's episode of #OurChildrenAroundTheWorld to learn more about the Centro de Desarrollo Integral and follow us on social media as we highlight both of our Guatemala projects throughout the month of April!

Project Updates
Construction for our Project Inspira in Peru is back on!

It has been over a year since construction plans have been halted due to COVID-19, but we're proud to announce that construction for our project in Lima, Perú is officially underway!

Albergue Inspira will be a four-story home that will house low-income pediatric patients and their families who are receiving treatment in Lima. These children and their families come from rural villages that lack access to pediatric care and are unable to afford the cost of travel and accommodation for the child's treatment. Through our partnership with Albergue Inspira, up to 60 children and their guardian will have a safe home and supportive community to stay in while the child receives treatment nearby.
