- On any given day, there are nearly 433,000 children in foster care in the United States. Most children are placed temporarily in foster care due to parental abuse or neglect.

Maestro Cares Foundation funded the construction of the Tim McCormick Community Center in Chicago, Illinois, with the support of Bank of America and the Dalton Family Foundation. This marked Maestro Cares Foundation’s first project in the contiguous United States.
Located within Roosevelt Square Village, the community center serves foster children living in 14 foster homes and provides academic support, therapeutic services, recreational programs, and social activities. It also serves as a safe, central gathering place where neighborhood residents can connect with one another and access community resources. The center benefits more than 5,000 individuals annually, including 84 children living in the foster homes.
The project was originally developed in partnership with SOS Children’s Villages, whose work in Illinois now continues as One Family Illinois. The organization supports foster children and families through community-based services, with an emphasis on helping siblings remain together in foster care.
