Ponce, Puerto Rico

Maestro Cares Foundation and its partners funded the construction of an orphanage, Hogar San Miguel, in Ponce, Puerto Rico. The home cares for boys ages 7-18 with different levels of disability support needs arising from conditions including HIV/AIDS and ADHD.

Hogar San Miguel is home to 20 boys. These children were removed from their families' care because of physical, sexual, and/or emotional abuse. At Hogar San Miguel, they receive 24-hour care from the highly qualified staff. The boys have access to medical services, mental health support, speech pathology, occupational therapy, and audiology.

VIDAS, Servicios Sociales Episcopales, the non-profit organization that operates Hogar San Miguel, is part of the social mission of the Episcopal Church in Puerto Rico. Their mission is to improve quality of life for families and individuals with diverse needs by offering comprehensive community services.
