Hogar San Miguel
Ponce, Puerto Rico
Maestro Cares Foundation and its partners funded the construction of an orphanage, Hogar San Miguel, in Ponce, Puerto Rico. The home cares for up to 20 boys ages 12-17 with different levels of disability support needs arising from conditions including HIV/AIDS and ADHD.
The boys were removed from their families' care because of physical, sexual, and/or emotional abuse. At Hogar San Miguel, they receive 24-hour care from the highly qualified staff and have access to medical services, mental health support, speech pathology, occupational therapy, and audiology.
VIDAS, Servicios Sociales Episcopales, the nonprofit organization that operates Hogar San Miguel, is part of the social mission of the Episcopal Church in Puerto Rico. Their mission is to improve the quality of life for families and individuals with diverse needs by offering comprehensive community services.
