Aldeas Infantiles SOS Guatemala

San Juan Sacatepequez, Guatemala

Maestro Cares Foundation partnered with Fundación Tigo to build Aldeas Infantiles SOS Centro de Desarrollo Integral, a community center that serves 40 families and 60 children ages 0-12 in San Juan Sacatepéquez, Guatemala.

Children ages 7 and under benefit from nutrition assistance, health support, and vaccinations. Middle school students have access to educational support and a computer classroom donated by Fundación Tigo. The center also offers substantial family-centered programs, like courses focused on cultivating self-esteem and violence prevention.

Aldeas Infantiles SOS and SOS Children’s Villages are the same international non-profit organization, with Aldeas Infantiles SOS being the name used in Spanish-speaking countries. It is an international non-profit organization active in 135 countries, including 20 in Latin America and the Caribbean. The Guatemalan chapter of Aldeas provides a nurturing environment for children who lack adequate parental care, including making sure siblings always stay together in foster homes.
