Aldeas Infantiles SOS Colombia

Cali, Colombia

Maestro Cares Foundation, in partnership with Fundación Tecnoglass, funded the construction of the Aldeas Infantiles SOS Colombia: Centro de Desarrollo Familiar, in Cali. The center provides training and engaging activities for families and participants within the SOS community, with the primary goal of preventing children from being separated from their families.

The community center serves children and adolescents through workshops that develop leadership, collaboration, creativity, and conflict-resolution skills. In addition to the construction of the community center, Maestro Cares Foundation repaired the roofs of 17 Aldeas Infantiles SOS village homes and built a kitchen to serve meals to the local community.

The community center currently supports 44 families, including 120 kids aged 1-18. Since its inception, the center has supported 200 families, totaling 700 people, by offering engaging activities and empowerment programs that aim to prevent family separation.

Aldeas Infantiles SOS and SOS Children’s Villages are the same international non-profit organization, with Aldeas Infantiles SOS being the name used in Spanish-speaking countries. It is an international non-profit organization active in 135 countries, including 20 in Latin America and the Caribbean. Their work in Colombia began with a Bogotá-based center in 1971 and now includes 10 projects across 18 municipalities. During 2023, the organization directly served 14,579 children, adolescents, and families.
