Fundación Inspira

Lima, Peru

Maestro Cares Foundation (MCF) funded the construction of Fundación Inspira's Albergue Inspira, a five-story temporary home in Lima, Peru. The facility, developed in partnership with Fundación Inspira, is designed to support low-income families who travel to Lima for their children’s critical medical treatment. The facility now accommodates up to 60 children and their mothers, totaling 120 residents. It boasts comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms, a parking lot, a garden, a dining hall, a kitchen, and a rehabilitation therapy room.

In the rural areas of Peru, specialized pediatric care is often inaccessible, forcing families to travel to Lima for necessary medical services. This journey adds significant stress, as finding suitable lodging in the city is challenging.

Fundación Inspira, a Peruvian non-profit organization founded by Dr. Ricardo Pun, a 2018 CNN Hero, has been providing essential support to children with serious illnesses since 2008. The foundation has already helped over 900 families by offering them a place to stay during their treatment.
