La Sala Familiar Ronald McDonald Panama

The Maestro Cares Foundation has partnered with the Ronald McDonald House Charities in Panama to fund a Family Room on the 15th floor of the new Hospital del Niño tower, offering families a comforting space between treatments. The Family Room will be a respite space of 117 square meters, striving to support hospitalized children and their families by offering facilities for basic needs like spaces for food storage, cooking, dining, relaxation, special celebrations, and recreational and educational activities to help develop skills with support from staff. Dedicated spaces will be set up for siblings and children waiting for outpatient treatments, fostering a nurturing atmosphere.

The hospitalized children at the Hospital del Niño of Panama range in age from infancy to 14 years old; main referrals for care include intensive care, burn units, neonatology, ophthalmology, congenital heart defects, pneumonia, tumors, and congenital cataracts. Services provided by the Hospital del Niño of Panama are at minimum to no cost based on family income. More than 1,000 families with hospitalized children will benefit from this new space that fosters community and connection.
