Centro Comunitario Aldeas Infantiles SOS Tijuana
The Maestro Cares Foundation is funding the construction of the new Aldeas Infantiles SOS Community Center in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. Developed in partnership with Aldeas Infantiles SOS Mexico, this project supports a unique care model that responds to the growing migration crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border by providing migrant, deported, and vulnerable families with psychosocial support, education, and access to essential resources. Today, nine of the twelve homes within Aldeas Infantiles SOS Tijuana serve migrant and deported families, reflecting the increasing complexity and long-term nature of migration in the region and the growing need for expanded services.
The new Community Center will include a childcare room, digital classroom, multipurpose and group therapy rooms, a quiet room, kitchenette, sanitary facilities, storage areas, and a soccer field. These dedicated spaces will expand access to mental health and psychosocial care, educational support, youth development opportunities, parenting workshops, family counseling, and community integration programs for children ages 6–17, youth ages 18–30, single-parent households, and migrant and displaced families both within the Aldea and throughout the surrounding community.
By creating a safe and welcoming environment where families can access comprehensive support services, the project aims to reduce risks associated with social exclusion, family separation, school dropout, and other social vulnerabilities. The Community Center is expected to benefit more than 700 children weekly while creating lasting impact across families and the broader community, helping children and families build brighter, more stable futures.
