Casa de la Amistad: Unidad de Cuidados para Niños Transplantados UCEN

Casa de la Amistad is embarking on an expansion project in order to enhance the accessibility of quality care to children battling cancer in Mexico. Through their partnership with Be a Match, 10 children in need of a bone marrow transplant will undergo the surgery free of cost each year, with the agreement that they be able to heal worry free at Casa de la Amistad. In order to maintain this compromise, Casa de la Amistad is expanding their transplant recovery wing from 4 rooms to 12 specially curated rooms that fit the parameters needed for partial isolation. The children receiving bone marrow transplants are immunocompromised for a significant amount of time, needing specialized care for an average of 220 nights. The kitchen for the parents will also be expanded to allow for multiple parents or caregivers to prepare meals simultaneously in order to ensure the proper nutrition and care for their healing child.
