SOS Children’s Villages Illinois Roosevelt Square
Community Center

Chicago, Illinois
Grand Opening: June 11th 2019

In the United States, 400,540 children are in the U.S. foster care system. Most children are placed temporarily in foster care due to parental abuse or neglect.

Maestro Cares Foundation’s first project in the United States is in partnership with SOS Children’s Villages Illinois. From this partnership, a community center will be constructed that will serve foster children in the Roosevelt Square Village and the surrounding community. This center will be equipped with academic, therapeutic, social and recreational services and activities. It will also be a central gathering place for neighborhood residents – a safe space where they can meet in the community and connect to public resources.

SOS Children’s Villages Illinois is a nonprofit organization that builds villages which unite brothers and sisters living in foster care, surrounds them with a community of hope, and helps them grow into caring and productive adults.

Once completed the community center is projected to serve more than 5,000 individuals annually from University Village, Lower West Side/Pilsen, Little Village, North Lawndale, and other surrounding neighborhoods.

The Community Center is a priority for the organization and is a fundamental element to all our Villages, as it becomes the hub of services for the children in our care and the surrounding community.”

Tim McCormick, SOS Children’s Villages Illinois CEO.
