The story of how La Casa De mi Padre in Santo Tomas, El Salvador began is sure to warm your heart. In 2001, a group of missionaries and volunteers came upon a home in El Salvador, where 50 children were living in perilous conditions. While helping clothe and feed the children in this home, they felt that more work needed to be done to make a lasting impact. Soon after, the missionaries began raising enough funds to purchase a farm where they could better cater to the needs of the children. The children now live in safe and healthy homes where houseparents care for a group of six to eight children. La Casa de mi Padre also works closely with the children’s biological families to work towards unification.
The farm has expanded into three houses, one of which was financed by Maestro Cares Foundation and SISTEMA FEDECREDITO in 2019. La Casa de mi Padre has goals to expand and build additional homes to support more disadvantaged children. Aside from housing and basic needs, children and adolescents also receive private schooling, individual and group therapy, family strengthening programs, spiritual workshops and recreational activities such as equitation.
