#OurChildrenAroundTheWorld:
Chicago, IL USA

This month's #OurChildrenAroundTheWorld series brings us to our first project in the United States and our hometown Chicago, Illinois!

In 2015, Maestro Cares Foundation partnered with SOS Children’s Villages Illinois to construct a community center in Chicago, IL. Opened in 2020, the Roosevelt Square Community Center serves foster children in the Roosevelt Square Village and surrounding communities. The center is equipped with academic, therapeutic, social and recreational services and activities. It also serves as a central gathering place for neighborhood residents - a safe space where they can meet in  community and connect to public resources. The Roosevelt Square Community Center also features the
Goya Foods Learning Kitchen, which is designed to educate the children and families at SOS Illinois and the surrounding community with a training program for the culinary arts and hospitality industry.

Project Updates
Construction is underway in Santiago, Chile!
We are excited to announce that construction for our project Casa de Acogida in Santiago, Chile is once again moving along! Although COVID-19 waves temporarily paused construction this past year, this project is back on track and set to be inaugurated in Spring 2022.

Maestro Cares Foundation is funding the construction of a temporary pediatric family home. This temporary home will be operated by Corporación Renal lnfantil Mater and will house up to 24 families while the child receives treatment at the Children's Hospital in Santiago. Majority of children from rural areas who suffer from these diseases need to travel to get the treatment and care they need. Since, most transplant specialists for renal and urological diseases are concentrated in the capital. With Casa de Acogida, families dealing with these illnesses who live far from the city of Santiago can receive the medical treatment and care, and be able to live in a safe space with their parents while they recover.

We are so excited to see the final result and the impact that it’ll have on the disadvantaged children and communities in Chile.
