This July, our globetrotting series #OurChildrenAroundTheWorld brings us to Santiago, Chile!
 

Maestro Cares Foundation is funding the construction of a temporary pediatric home that will house families of childhood patients suffering from Renal disease, many of whom come from rural regions throughout Chile. 
  
This temporary pediatric family home will be operated by Corporación Renal Infantil Mater and will house up to 24 families while the child receives treatment at the Children’s Hospital in Santiago. 

Pictured above is patient Emma, who traveled alongside her mother from San Francisco de Mostazal to meet with a pediatric Urologist and president of Corporación Renal Infantil Mater, Dr. José Manuel Escala. Emma underwent surgery in 2017 and was able to overcome a renal complication. Without immediate attention, Emma would have faced dire health consequences. Today, Emma is a healthy seven year old who plays and enjoys life just like any other girl! (Translated from @CorporaciónMater)

Meet the first Maestro Cares Foundation Scholarship Program Alumni, Jose Luis Cabrera! 

Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, Jose Luis received his BA in Fashion Design and Business from Parsons School of Design. Today, Jose Luis designs for the global fashion brand New Balance, and he has also formed his own fashion brand, which gives back to his community in the Dominican Republic. 

Congratulations on your continuous pursuit of your dreams, Jose Luis! You are an inspiration to us all!
