GROUNDBREAKING OF OUR NEWEST FACILITY IN PUERTO RICO

The Maestro Cares Foundation broke ground on its fifth project, Hogar San Miguel, on September 10th in Ponce, Puerto Rico. This was a very exciting day for the foundation to be able to bring forth a project to the Island of Enchantment. Maestro Cares’ founders, partners, staff, and other notable figures were in attendance. Hogar San Miguel currently houses fourteen kids that have been abused, abandoned, and/or removed from their homes.

Once the construction of the new home is completed, the facility will provide a loving and supportive home for up to 20 disadvantaged children; the new facility is expected to be completed by the summer of 2016. It will have 10 bedrooms, a full kitchen, a dining area, library, offices, TV rooms, a playground, and much more!

Marc Anthony was both very excited and emotional at the groundbreaking ceremony saying, “Without a doubt, today is a very special day for me. The beginning of each and every one of our new homes is always a reason to celebrate; and it fills me with pride and satisfaction that we have been able to achieve this in my homeland of Puerto Rico.” The Maestro Cares Foundation is overjoyed to start on the construction of this project.

CO-FOUNDERS, MARC ANTHONY AND HENRY CÁRDENAS, ALONG WITH SOME OF OUR BOARD MEMBERS, VISIT CASA HOGAR ALEGRÍA IN TOLUCA, MEXICO

August was a busy month for the Maestro Cares Foundation. Our board members, Dillon Dalton and Elena Sotomayor, along with our founders, made time to visit and meet the girls from Casa Hogar Alegría in Toluca, Mexico as well as to review the progress that has been made on the new all-girls home.

Marc Anthony and Henry Cárdenas were the first to visit the orphanage on Marc’s day off from his world tour; they were able to spend some quality time with the girls and got to know them personally. The girls were very happy and welcoming. They presented Marc and Henry with a special gift of handmade bracelets to remember them by, and even prepared a special song to sing.

A week later, the board members headed down south to visit Casa Hogar Alegería. There, the director of the girls home, Viviana Pérez, welcomed the board members, showed them around the current home, and introduced them to all of the girls who live there. Afterwards, they headed over to the construction site for the new home; they were very excited to see the tremendous progress. The girls are super excited about the new home that will be ready at the beginning of 2016. Our board members spent quality time with the girls and sat around to share stories. Thank you again to our founders, board members, and special guests Tom Dalton and Mark Weglarz for being so involved in the project.
