GOYA FOODS FIRST MENTOR WEEKEND TRIP TO ORFANATO NIÑOS DE CRISTO.
Maestro Cares Foundation is proud to report on the success of its first ever Mentors weekend at Orfanato Niños de Cristo in the Dominican Republic this past July 16 -19. It was an amazing and rewarding trip not only for our GOYA sponsors and the Maestro Cares Foundation staff, but most importantly for our boys at Orfanto Niños de Cristo. The main purpose of the trip was for the boys to personally meet their Goya mentors, face-to-face. The four day long trip consisted of scheduled activities designed to help the children bond with their mentors and get to know each other. Day one of the trip started out with a meet and greet with the child and their mentor. The children presented their sponsors with signs they created welcoming them to the Dominican Republic. On second day, the mentors visited and toured the orphanage where the boys live, and engaged in activities with the children including soccer, arts and crafts, painting, and a musical performance, and enjoyed lunch together. On day three, the mentors and children went to the beach for some much needed fun in the sun. There, they built sand castles, buried each other in the sand, and swam in the Caribbean Sea. The final day came with an emotional goodbye where the children gave their sponsors photographs they had decorated thanking them for their support. This magical trip forever changed and impacted the lives of both the children and their mentors.
A special thank you to Goya Foods and its employees not only for their unconditional support to our foundation but for being amazing mentors to the children we serve in La Romana, Dominican Republic.
