It is estimated that around 412,000 children in Mexico live without parental care. The main reasons leading to the loss of parental care are maternal mortality, femicide, AIDS and Mexico’s on-going drug cartel violence. (SOS Children’s Villages International)
CASA HOGAR ALEGRIA | Toluca, Mexico
Grand Opening: March 2016
Maestro Cares Foundation constructed Casa Hogar Alegría’s second home in Toluca. Casa Hogar Alegría Cacalomacán is home to 50 abused, neglected and abandoned girls whose ages range from 7 to 21 years old. The new campus includes dormitories, a kitchen, chapel, dining rooms, multipurpose and computer rooms as well as recreational spaces.
Casa Hogar Alegria
Casa Hogar Alegria provides a comprehensive upbringing to orphaned girls who lack parental care, a competent authority, who have socio-economic disadvantages or have any impediments that interfere with satisfying their basic needs. Casa Hogar Algeria provides the necessary attention to help advance personal development and thus the girls are able to become independent, responsible, respectful, happy with self-confidence and are overall able to increase their quality of life. Such characteristics help them become individuals who can easily integrate and engage with society.
“Today, I am 20 years old and I have been at Casa Hogar Alegría for 13 years now. Casa Hogar Alegría gave me the opportunity to meet a new world that up until that moment was foreign to me. Today, I’m in college, for which I am very grateful. It’s a huge accomplishment for me.”
-Ana, Resident at Casa Hogar Alegría
